About Income
Protection Insurance
So how would you and your family
cope if you were unable to earn an income due to accident, sickness
or involuntary unemployment? How much would your standard of living
fall and more importantly would you and your family survive?
Whilst there are various forms of cover available one
in particular offers a partial level of protection at an affordable
cost. This is income protection insurance where cover is
provided against accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment
which stops you from working. These policies are sometimes called
ASU plans; accident, sickness, unemployment.
The income protection insurance cover
pays out a monthly benefit usually up to a maximum period of 12
months although some income protection insurance covers will provide
a longer maximum benefit period.
Like all insurance policies income protection
insurance cover is not suitable for every one and you will need to
check that you fit the criteria in order to make certain that you
would be eligible to make a claim or that you do not already have
some other form of protection that might mean you do not need this
cover.
